Deathsworn Verdict WoW GuildAlliance EU-Defias Brotherhood (armory)
Primary Language: English
Raids per week: 3
We are an almost 2 year old guild, having been formed in time for Firelands by a group of friends who, after some negative experiences in various guilds, decided to create a guild with a particular goal in mind – to have a 25 man guild with a focus on progression, without losing sight of a good community in the process.
3x 3 hour raids per week – Wed, Thurs, Sun, 8:45 – 0:00 (server time)
An occasional Monday raid 8:45 – 0:00, when particularly close to progression or if a raid has been cancelled
Friendly raid environment
Active guild chat, forums and ventrilo
Other guild activities:
Weekly main/alt/social raids (tier 14) – Monday 8:45 – 0:00 (this will be cancelled if an official raid is scheduled instead)
RBGs currently being arranged
More in depth information!
Like all guilds, we want smooth, progressive raids, but we try to make a unique atmosphere – even on wipe nights – in which players feel safe to learn, progress and even make mistakes without being shouted at or belittled by their fellow guild members or officers. This is easier said than done, and many people will never have known a raiding guild where there isn't a shouty raid leader or angry raid members, but we really like to enforce an atmosphere of mutual respect and patience. Of course, we don't allow people to make an infinite amount of mistakes without being spoken to or replaced, but this is dealt with privately in whispers.
Everyone in our raid knows they are entitled to approach us with any opinions they have for boss mechanics and how they can be handled, and between boss attempts we're either discussing the tactics or the wipe in a blameless way, or chatting mindlessly about other things.
It wouldn't be a guild recruitment post if we didn't specify that we need our members to come to the raids prepared and focused, and ready to kill some bosses. We have in-depth discussions on the forums ahead of fights to discuss our chosen tactics, and we have a mentoring system for our new members to help them adjust to their specific role on boss fights with the guidance of an experienced guild members. We expect people to learn on their own, from each other, and inside the raids. With less than 10 hours raiding per week, it's necessary for our raiders to be fast learners and progression focused.
Our guild was founded by four friends who have played together for a number of years, and since then our ranks have grown and changed many times. However, at any given moment in the last two years of Deathsworn Verdict's existence, we have had a very diverse member base, with people from all different walks of life joining us and we like to think this is because we've made a safe environment where people feel comfortable being themselves. Though we welcome banter and teasing each other, the line is drawn at anything offensive to any group of people, be that sexism, racism, homophobia or otherwise. It's part of the mature environment we work to maintain.
As for the word “mature”, this is very much a state of mind than an age, and we welcome anyone of any age who behaves in a grown up manner, and avoids drama. We have had members as young as fourteen, and so we know that maturity isn't something exclusive to age.
Personality is just as important to us as skill level, and you need a healthy amount of both to pass a trial at Deathsworn Verdict and join the team. Bad players who are friendly with a great sense of humour, and good players who make scathing remarks and like causing drama are equally unlikely to pass their trial. However, social spots are always offered to those who don't pass their trial but have proven themselves a friendly person.
Progression - 9/12N
Progression, of course, is important to us, but we don't chase world ranks, or even server ranks. We simply don't raid enough hours to be competitive with others. As long as we are killing bosses at a steadily progressive pace, we are happy.
Hopefully that can assure you, when considering Deathsworn Verdict against other guilds, that we don't intentionally over-recruit or behave in a tyrannical fashion during raids, kicking people from the guild for one small mistake. We like to behave in a dignified manner, quietly doing our thing and seeing how far we get instead of shooting straight for the top of the ladder. We pick our new recruits carefully, and we aim to never have more than a handful of people on reserve at any time.
Of course, this also means we need to be fairly strict with the calibre of player who will pass their trials as, if we're going to keep a tight roster, we need to make sure everyone is capable and no-one is being carried.
How to apply
Our guild forums are located at: http://www.deathswornverdict.co.uk. There is an application forum where you can fill in and post your application, or find up to date information out about our recruitment needs (also posted above, or in the comments below).
We like to ask further questions sometimes, so you should be prepared for those, but try not to be intimidated. We also like to see logs if you have any available. Your application form is your first opportunity to prove yourself, and not simply a formality. We consider Deathsworn Verdict a great guild to join, so we like to see people who are willing to make a little bit of effort to prove they deserve to be part of it.
If you have any questions about our guild which you don't feel have been answered on this post, feel free to check our website: http://www.deathswornverdict.co.uk
Alternatively, you can contact one of our officers for a chat (ideally outside of raiding hours!). They are:
Or poke one of our guild members and ask them to direct you to whichever officer is online on their alts (there's usually at least one of us!)
You can also feel free to send a private message to one of the officers via our forums private messaging feature.
