Who We Are

Nerf was formed on February 20, 2010 by many friends who have been raiding since the beginning of The Burning Crusade. We decided to take all our raiding experience and create a friendly, but serious guild to progress in the current content.

The average age in the guild is 25, and most of us have university, work, among other things. However, that does not make us stray away from our drive to progress in the game we enjoy to play.

Our Raids

Our raiding schedule is currently Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday from 19:30 to 23:00 server time. With experienced raiders, our schedule is more than enough to progress fairly in Cataclysm. We also organize alt raids during the weekends for fun, and some extra experience with the current raiding content.

All raids are prepared beforehand to maximize efficiency. Considering we raid 3 days a week, we’d like to get the most out of those hours spent raiding. We do not like to waste our time, nor our raiders’ time. We plan carefully all encounters, and theory-craft them to have the highest success rate.

Our raiding atmosphere is quite cheerful and happy. You never hear anyone yelling and screaming like you do in some of the “grumpy” guilds. As we have full confidence in our raiders to perform exceptionally, we can all have a nice, laid back, and comfortable raid.

We use the EPGP loot distribution system for our raids. It has proven to be the most fair and reliable method for us. There is no hassle or time wasted during raids.

Our Raiding Team

Our raiding team is between 32-35 raiders of various classes. All raiders have equal raid spots in our raids to get geared properly. This is to ensure that we have the proper classes required for any encounter. As you know, many encounters require stacking certain classes and/or require special setups to make the encounter possible.

Our Ideal Candidate

Here are a few qualities we are looking for in our candidates:

Intelligence: Our ideal applicant is someone that is not afraid of math. They are capable of critical thought, and they are able to contribute in a meaningful way when discussing a boss strategy.

Skill: We recruit players that play mistake-free. The ability to top healing or damage meters is certainly a plus, but what we're really looking for are players that don't make mistakes which lead to their own death or the death of another player.

Initiative: Our ideal applicant is a self-starter who is always trying to improve. They keep up to date with the latest theory-craft and boss strategies, they never have to be told to enchant or gem any gear, and they always bring and use the correct consumables. There is no piggy-back riding in Nerf.

Gear: While we do not have any specific gear requirements, we consider gear to be a major indicator of a players’ level of competence and effort. We expect our applicants to have the best gear that is reasonably available to them at their current level of progress.

Personality: Nerf is an adult guild with a grown-up-yet-somewhat-silly atmosphere. Our ideal applicant can take a joke and does not offend easily. They are capable of receiving criticism without taking it personally. As a guild we are always trying to improve, and this process includes pointing out mistakes when they are made. The ideal applicant can handle when their mistakes are pointed out.

Reliability: The internet is a harsh, cold wasteland of anonymity. We're looking for players who are honest, responsible, reliable and trustworthy. The ideal applicant is a good person that doesn't use the internet as an excuse to be an *%@@@#%. They always let us know when they're going to miss a raid night, and they're always honest with the guild as a whole.
