Con Brio was originally created April 6th, 2008 as a reroll guild.
To many people, it was one last act of desperation, one last chance
to find a guild of depth, one that could balance both being
progression- and socially-minded. We vowed to not ever make our
motivation to raid be loot-centric, and to never recruit players
who would essentially only be a warm body in a raid. Our goal was
to establish a guild with a relatively small roster, made strong by
close-knit friendships. Con Brio was a guild created for the
people, not the purples. We were tired of only logging on for
raids, and having nothing more in common with our guild than the
identical guild tags over our heads. We desired to create a guild
that first looked at potential members for personality and how well
he/she fit in with us, before experience and gear. We wanted a
guild full of friends, people who log on for each other, instead of
themselves. If you're playing for your friends, wouldn't you be
more inclined to be selfless, fun, and reliable?
No matter the level, no matter the experience, or if we're even full on the class... a good personality and attitude always takes precedence over trivial things such as gear, experience, and to some degree, even skill. When we recruit members, we're not interested in recruiting just another warm body. If it means slower progression because we have high standards, then so be it; but the day we recruit someone only to fill up DPS spot #7, is the day we have lowered our standards and cease to be a unique snowflake among raiding guilds. You're an individual here, not just a spot on the roster filled. We want to know your name, your kids, your pet. We want to get to know you, and you us. Everybody counts, and nobody is more important than another. We're elitist in the sense that we have exceptionally high expectations for our members. What you can bring to us as a raider is important, but we don't care if you're the best [insert class here] ever, with the best gear available- we first look at the person, then the player. We want a good sense of humor, a quick wit, a friendly and stellar personality. We'd rather not raid at all, than raid with boring people who log on for raids, and then log off, and without ever saying a word.
Our player base age ranges from early 20's to mid 30's. The personality of the guild is best described as quirky. Our sense of humor ranges from dry and sarcastic to childish and goofy. We're all of the belief that one's maturity isn't defined by how silly he/she is. It takes think skin and a quick wit to appreciate and get along with our group, and if you're the sort who finds adult humor and language immature, we're not the guild for you. We have a very small roster, and plan on keeping it small (no larger than 30-35 raider base). People are generally always active, regardless of our short raiding schedule. Vent and guild chat are always going, and if it isn't, all it takes is a stir, and people flood onto vent. We're easygoing and fun, and always welcome new likeminded members.
We're only a little over a year and a half old, but don't be deterred by that; we have an exceptionally lengthy application/interview process, which helps ensure all members recruited fit our ideals and personalities in the guild. We created this guild after being fed up with our past guilds looking at all members as only a raid spot filled, and the members looking at one another as raid loot/slot competition. We strive to create a guild of individuals that play for one another, not the purples, and a guild that feels more like a group of close friends experiencing content together rather than serious job-like raiding. And as such, we've established a very strong foundation. We're a unique guild with a unique philosophy, and people love it. They play for us, not for themselves, so when the going gets tough, we still remain strong.
