Acheron is an 18+ raiding guild on the Hyjal server focused on progression. We are working to continually improve ourselves, and the guild. We believe that our members are among the best on the server for their class and role. We would rather raid short than carry players. Acheron raids stealth and does not post to the server e-peen progression thread. We raid for each other and the guild. This mentality allows us to:

- spend a lot of time together in the game in and out of raids. Guild chat and vent remain open, fun and entertaining. The ability to work together and resolve conflict as mature players are our greatest asset.

- challenge ourselves to be skilled players in the game. Farmed content is only serves to refine our skills as we push further into new content. We believe that a wipe on a progression boss is more fulfilling than one shotting a farmed boss. Our members push themselves to master their class and expect the same from the other members of the raid group.

- respect the individual progression of our members. We each have a different path to how we have reached this level of the game. No one raider's experiences are more important than anyone else.

- honor the sacrifices of the members. We are committed to placing the guild and its health above our own. We understand that the actions of one member reflect on the group as a whole. We are active members of the server community, but do not associate with or feed the trolls.

We have a simple vision for Acheron.

Play Smart:

We strongly believe that a guild that plays smarter rather than longer will always succeed. We will not extend our raid hours to compensate for a lack of focus in the raid. Raiding only 13 hours a week leaves time for other aspects of the game, many of which directly pay dividends to the raid. Outside of raids, our members spend time together in farming, alt development, and even a good pug to help a previous guild.

Experience is vital for success. The guild has an excellent knowledge base developed from the Raiders', members', and officers' participation in all aspects of WoW. We know the strategies, we know how to learn, and we are not satisfied to resting on our laurels.

Raid Focused Loot:

Acheron uses a Loot Council system to distribute the spoils of war. Many factors are weighed in the decision. The purpose of this system is to develop the raid group as a whole. There are many bosses dropping tons of loot. There is plenty to go around. Frequently, our raiders will fight harder to see loot go to another player than to themselves. Each item of loot is a piece in a very large raid wide puzzle. We believe it's worth the time to put it in the right place.

Recruit purposefully:

Lax recruiting practices can lead to getting what could be a “few bad apples” to a “whole bushel of bad apples.” We want an environment that is harmonious and works well together. We do not want to recruit members who are negative, have poor attitudes and cannot work with others well. We feel it's important that during the course of a recruit's initiate phase they are active and show their commitment to being a solid member before achieving Raider status. We will not hesitate to “trim the fat” when the time comes. We do not discriminate based upon race, creed, religion. If you are a mature person who can play WoW, research your own quests/class issues, speak English, play frequently, and are at the top of your game, you will be given every opportunity.

No Drama:

Too many guilds have been destroyed by drama. We have instituted a no drama policy. This means that if you are excessively whining, begging, fighting with others, flaming on the boards or doing anything that could damage the reputation of the guild, you will be warned, and if the action was serious enough, you will be removed from the guild. This is not your grand-father's guild either, we have a great time, but there are limits to what is considered acceptable. Watch what you say if you’re new, not everyone knows your personality and things can easily be taken in a negative light.

As a guild, we are focused on constant maintenance of an excellent reputation. Feeding the forum trolls is counterproductive to this goal. Never argue with an idiot as onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.
