Manifesto

Core Principle

We play games to have fun. For us, fun is killing Internet bosses. Fun for us does not include wiping on farm content, or inconsistencies in performance. Fun IS showing up each night, performing to the best of your potential, killing bosses, and continually improving not only as players but also as a Guild. This is how we have fun. Everything we do as a guild should serve this principle.

Respect

In order to insure that everyone is having fun, it is important to do everything possible to limit interpersonal conflict within the guild. In any endeavor in which more than a few people are involved, it is inevitable that there will, at times, arise situations where there will be disagreements. We are all strong personalities, and strong personalities clash from time to time. This is okay. What is not okay is to ever allow those clashes to extend to a point where feelings are hurt. It is never fun to have your feelings hurt, or to feel like you are being singled out for abuse. In all dealings, it is of the utmost that we always treat those around us with the same level of dignity and respect with which we would wish to be treated. If a member feels that he or she is being harassed or treated unfairly, that member should be able to approach an officer to seek resolution. If the member feels that the harassment is originating from the officer corps, that person should then seek out the guild leader for resolution. If a guild member is found to be treating another member with disrespect, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.

Diplomacy

It is important for us to realize as a guild that many of our members may have friends in other guilds than this one. Further, we must realize that we do not exist in a vacuum, and there are times when it may be necessary for us to collaborate in some way with another guild. For this reason, we must strive at all times to maintain good relationships with other guilds. While competition is important, in that it drives us to better ourselves, it is imperative that our contact with members of other guilds be at all times courteous and professional. Good-natured ribbing is one thing; abusive and insulting behavior directed at the members of another guild is entirely another. If a guild member is found to be acting in an abusive or unprofessional manner toward any player outside the guild or conducting himself in a way that portrays the guild as a whole in an unfavorable or unprofessional light, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.

Attendance

It is not fun to log in to the game, expecting a raid, only to have it called because there are not enough players online to fill the raid. While we recognize that sometimes everyone has a life outside the game (we hope), it is unfair and disrespectful to our fellow guild members to miss a raid without notification. If a member falls below a certain expected attendance level without notification, on a consistent basis, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.

Performance

In order to progress as a whole, we realize that it is important that each of us to continue to work to improve our personal performance. By striving to improve our own personal bests, each of us will continue to improve, and the guild as a whole will only benefit. We believe that constructive criticism and an open atmosphere are imperative to improving the performance of the guild as a whole. Criticism should be taken in the spirit in which it is given. If there are concerns that a player is not performing up to his or her potential, every attempt will be made to help that player improve. If a player continues to exhibit sub-par performance and there are no signs of improvement or attempts to improve, action will be taken by the guild leadership, up to and including removal from the guild.

Loot Distribution

We are interested in progression, and that loot should be a means to an end, not the end in itself. A loot council is established that will decide the best way to distribute loot from bosses downed by the guild on raid nights. Decisions will be based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: member's past and present attendance and performance, suitability to class and primary role, and size of upgrade. Decisions on loot will be made in the raid in which it drops. All decisions made by the loot council are final.
