What is WoWProgress.com?
WoWProgress.com is the most popular ranking website for World of Warcraft. It was launched with Sunwell Plateau release in Burning Crusader and currently it is the primary PvE rating service.
We also maintain the largest guild profiles database that is updated by thousands of guild officers themselves.
How does the rating work?
WoWProgress.com pulls Guild and Character information from the official Battle.net API and transforms it into Guild Achievements with date/time attached.
Guild Achievements define guild progression. In general, the faster you progress, the higher rank you get.
Each achievement has a maximal score attached.
World first gets maximal score, next kills score determined based on interval in days (or weeks) between the kill and the world first kill plus a constant (constant = nominal score / 2). Boss kills after 180 days grant only constant amount of points.
Example1.
Kil'jaeden nominal score is 40, the effective score depends on kill day.
- June, 16. Guild A makes world first Kil'jaeden kill. They get 40 + 40/2 = 60 points.
- June, 27. Guild B kills Kil'jaeden. Their score: 40 x (180-(27-16))/180 + 40/2 = 57.56.
- June, 27. Guild C kills Kil'jaeden on the same day. They also get 57.56.
Example2.
Tribute to Skill nominal score is 60, the effective score depends on week (lockout).
- September, 1. Guild A takes World First Tribute to Skill. They get 60 + 60/2 = 90 points.
- September, 3 (the same week). Guild B achieves Tribute to Skill. They also get 90 points.
- September, 12 (the next week). Guild C achieves Tribute to Skill. Their score: 60 x (180-7)/180 + 60/2 = 87.67.
Guild rank may depend not only on score. Important encounters (milestones) can make guild rank higher regardless of score points.
Tier9.
Rank sorting priority:
- Latest tribute achievement:
- A Tribute to Dedicated Insanity (10-man only) - lockout
- A Tribute to Insanity - lockout
- A Tribute to Mad Skill - lockout
- A Tribute to Skill - lockout
- A Tribute to Dedicated Insanity (10-man only) - lockout
- Tier9 score points (Anub'arak kill date)
- Tier8 score points
That means for example, a guild that made "A Tribute to Insanity" faster (at least one week faster) will be ranked higher.
In case there are two or more guilds done the same Tribute in the same week, Tier9 score points will be used for ordering.
If Tier9 score points are the same, then Tier8 score points will be used.
Tier9 score depends on the latest (and only on the latest) hard mode boss you killed - defined by date.
There is also a normal mode rating defined by additive score which is depend on boss kill dates.
Normal mode score will disappear once guild starts doing the instance in hard mode, so the end game won't depend on normal mode progression.
Tier8.
Rank sorting priority:
- Guilds done Alone in the Darkness pre-nerf are ranked higher
- Once Alone in the Darkness done, guilds are sorted by score points
- Algalon kill - date
- Algalon room unlocked - date
- Hard mode progression - score points
- Yogg-Saron normal mode kill - date
- Normal mode progression - score points
Encounters such as Freya +1,2,3 or Yogg-Saron without keepers grant score only once. So if you did Freya+3 you will get score only for Freya+3 (and not +1,2).
But why it's so complex?
The reason is PvE originally wasn't designed to be a competitive game (though there are steps Blizzard doing towards PvE competition design).
We like simplicity and we like when simple things done simply, but we aren't going to make a naive poor service.
Currently, ranking for a big non-linear dungeon cannot be simple.
I can't find my guild.
Please follow Add guild page and submit the form there. If you have any tier8/9 progress, your guild will appear in the list in a few hours or even in a few minutes.
My realm is missing.
Please send us an email with info about your realm (name, language and realm type pvp/pve).
We killed the next boss, how to report?
Normally the crawler itself will update your guild in several days.
There is the "update progress" button on your guild page you can use if you want faster update - usually it takes a few minutes.
It isn't updating our progress for long time.
There could be Armory maintenance or there could be our crawler maintenance that may create a bottleneck (as there many guilds might added to the queue in just a few hours). Please wait a little more and if there is no update in 2 days, please contact us.
Also note that your guild should have at least 10 high level characters, otherwise our crawler won't scan it.
Our guild has been updated but there is no new achievements.
Make sure that Armory info was updated for most of the characters. The Armory doesn't update while character is online.
What if guild has been renamed?
Renamed guild should be added as a new guild, your progress will be transfered if you have enough members that did the achievements. The old guild will disappear once there will be less than 10 high level members.
There is an inactive guild in the listing.
If the guild is really inactive please report it by email describing why they should be removed.
What's the difference between Encounter and Achievement rating?
Encounter rating based on encounters: boss kills, hard mode kills, skill based achievements that limit number of trials.
Achievement rating based on all PvE raiding achievements.
The kill date is wrong
The Armory uses dates based on GMT time that may not match your timezone. Currently we use the Armory dates though we may switch to server (realm) timezones in future.
How to update guild recruitment info?
Just click on the [update] link near your guild profile and follow the instructions on the page.
There will be one of these two ways:
1. If there is already Guild Officer registered (your guildmate) - you'll have to contact her. She has the permission to update the guild profile and she has the permission to add you as another guild profile administrator.
2. Otherwise you should confirm your character (it involves unequipping specified slots and updating from the Armory) and then you'll be able to update profile of your guild.
How to change guild profile administrator?
Guild Master or any Guild Officer (rank 0 or 1) should register and confirm his/her character. Then he/she will have the permission to remove existing guild profile administrators.
We killed boss faster than another guild did it, why the other guild ranked higher?
You killed the boss in the same day (or week for the tribute achievements) which means you got the same amount of points.
Ranking by points means your position depends on your points, not kill time. Previous tier points will be used for sorting in this case.

My Question is: How many Member of a Guild should be in an 10 Man Raid to get the Score for the Bosskill in the Ranking in Progress for the Guild
We have some Progress in toc, but its not listet ... we have 6 players in our Guild an 4 Players from different Guilds.
(Is 14/25 at least the correct No. for 25 Players Mode ?)
We currently don't support guild unions though you'll get the achievement in case there was significant amount of your players in the raid.

Is the Tribute to Dedicated Insanity (25) not counted, only the 10 player version is for the 10 player rankings?
Makes no difference to me, but I can't remember if Immortal was counted in the rankings back in the Naxxramas era or not. (It's mostly based on internet connection/computer stability more than anything else :P)

why are kills not sorted by time since it is now supported? there many guilds with Anub kills that have same score, but they are not ranked by time of kill. it just completely random.

In fact, our site is the most accurate one since it's the only site that shows achievement times.

1. What is the lowest level acheivement that a guild can obtain that will show up on wowprogress.com?
2. What is the minimum number of players (from the guild) that need to be involved in that acheivement in order for the guild to gain guild credit with wowprogress.com?
3. Is there a higher level acheivement that could be recognized by wowprogress.com with fewer guild members involved in the raid?

Though in future I plan to add some tools for new guilds.

Lastly, it is very difficult to pull up The Exiled from the search engine. I think that there may be a bug created by me when I registered it on top of an old registration for what I think is the same guild. Is there any way to fix that?

Just kill Normal Beasts (10 or 25) and you'll get into the search index on next update.
You have enough members for 10-man rating.
And for 25-man rating your should get 1 more 80-level character (hint: bring an alt).

However, imho 3 important factors are missing from the recruitment search engine
1 Option to select offers by date - Way too many are out of date.
2 Option to select Faction - Not really a big issue but might make it more user friendly.
3 Option chose raiding schedules - Yes, it may be a general consensus to find guilds raiding at 7pm (ish) server time, but many actually have real life obligations and dream of raiding a little bit later.

When you consider there are offers more than a year old... And I'm sure given the number of guilds offering spots, an absolute huuuge number of us using your site to look at recruitment, it feels like a criminal waste of a top asset to not treat this ASAP ^^

Will you in the future support 10-man strict rankings such as guildox.com has it? It's hard to run a competitive 10-man guild when you don't have any sites that supports the ranking propperly.

The best way is to check who doesn't have Val'kyr Twins in the Armory achievements and report it to Blizzard.

My guild killed algalon 25 and it was also server first. I came here to update, and it doesnt show. It was a full guild run. Tried to update again now and it still doesn´t show. The kil was 2 days ago.

We killed Putricide (10) with 2 non guild members and their guild got the boss scored. But when we killed Rotface (25) with 7 members of our guild, the boss wasn't scored for us despite the better ratio?

My old guild (Exordium) on Teldrassil EU broke apart, so now there are only some fragments of the guild left, rest of the raid (some 35ish people) tranferred to horde site to start a new guild (sign).
We are at 11/12 heroic, but wowprogress only shows 10/12, not counting our blood princes heroic kill (which we killed like 4 times now).
I wrote two emails now to admin@wowprogress but no reply yet..

Can't you add a malus to points when a guild kills for exemple Putricide with the 10% buff on wednesday and the other killed it on tuesday with the 5% ? It just doesnt seem fair than you just add a week timer delay to the point system. It's a week AND a huge damage bonus.
I know armory doesnt track it, but you could just reduce the points by 5% at each date a buff to ICC a boss has been added.

And why contact e-mail is not working?
We raid with another guild (Nosferatus Imperium) and last week the blood council HM was killed with only 2 Totems'members (Ellimac and Troisnattes), so no kill for us. No problem here.
We kill the blood council again and Valithria this week with 4 Totems'members (Gobarlum, Ellimac, Sartaroth and Troisnattes). We were awarded Valithria's kill but not Blood Council's one :(.

My Guild "Right Now" from Frostwolf (EU / German) did 9/12 (H) 2 Weeks ago. But only 4/12 are scanned. Update doesn't work.

My guild Epsilon Kirin-Tor (EU) has a wrong progression reported since 04/12/2010. Wrong dates (25HM: Marrowgar, Deatwhisper, Saurfang, Festergut, Rotface, Valithria, Lana'thel and 10 HM: the same + Gunship, BloodPrinces, Sindragosa) and kills not reported (Gunship 25HM and BloodPrinces 25HM).
It affects our ranking in both ICC-10HM and ICC-25HM.
Can you fix this please ?

If my guild is number 5000 of europe ist would be a "good" rating, if there are 50000 guilds for europe. If there are only 5000 then not.
The guild in EU-Sunstrider "Ad Arma" Has not done 3/12 ICC25 HC, it's bugged. Look at their GM He doesnt have kingslayer, this was upgrade due to the selfless merge they did with the other guild which was later fixed.
Could this be fixed please?

Temporarly we are MS in Exile. (the entire raid team is there) we are now 3/12 heroic as a reformed guild, despite being 11/12 heroic 25.
Any help you can give us, considering reclaiming our on site rank, would add validity to your site, as well as aid us in using it for recruitment purposes.
Would running one alt guildie perhaps help sort the system?

i got a few questions about leaving a guild.
1. We left our guild with 15 people, but in heroic 25, we only got 2 of the 7 killed encounters approved.
2. Does our old guild get deprived of our kills and achievements in 10m content? Because they still recruiting with our progress, but didn`t even get them by themself.

We even cleared 6/12 HM within the last week, and we're only updated on Marrowgar. It also took either the Armory or WoW Progress to update Huge in Japan's LK 25 HM Kill in 2 days.

I have clicked the “update” tab as told to do in the FAQ’s but it brings me to the a screen that says:
"You should add and confirm your character. The character should be inside guild."
So I click the “your characters” link and it shows I’m already in and no option to confirm. However it does show my name; "Glockcoma - In Que"
What does "in que" mean? Is this the problem?
It hasn't been run in the US this year and no one is responding to posts.

In the new dungeon structure you need to kill LK to open heroics, but you can get a chr from another server or guild that have killed the LK and open heroic where u can easily kill at least 3 bosses.. so for example a guild in only 10/12reg and 7/12 could have a better rating than a guild in 12/12 and 7/12H if the bosses in heroic were killed before. Don't will better to pump the rating of LK or in general last bosses in an instance to fix this issue?
We have a case in our server of someone from a guild jumping to a different server and back to get the achievement so they can do heroics.

Good afternoon,
We stopped raiding about six months ago, so one of our members had the guild removed from the site in order to ensure server rankings were correct.
We returned two weeks ago as a 10-man strict guild and have gone 12/12 normal and 9/12 heroic, but for some reason we do not show up on the Web site.
I've attempted to update the guild, but it's not working for us.
What are your recommendations on how to get us back on the list?

For some reason, the kills (the ORIGINAL guild) has later kill dates listed than that of ? I'm trying to figure out why we (Bads) have approximated kill dates while their (Cake) rankings show the original kill dates.
To explain further, the original kills were done under the guild tag, with one dedicated group. The people who left defected to Cake, and it is now essentially their alt guild. I can understand them being given the same date on progress as the original guild kills had been given, but I cannot understand why their dates are the original dates and our dates are for some reason showing up later? I know that the dates we were given originally put us at 3rd server-side. When the mess with the split happened, they were listed at 9th. Somehow in the past month to two months they've managed to overtake us? This is all due to the dates on the kills, which I still cannot understand as if we both took part in the kills in the same guild on the same date, why the two guilds would have separate dates with the sub-guild having the correct dates and the main guild not?
Before the mess happened and they split off, the dates shared by all of us were the same?
Please explain/help. Thank you.

It's disgraceful to watch people who were in our guild for the LK progression kills sitting on top of the guild that actually did the kills legitimately because of bad rankings due to a screw-up with dates on kills, all the while knowing that Cake's guild is not actively raiding and is simply being held by the GM's alts for the rank position.

25 man probably shouldn't even be tracked since wowprogress can't seem to track it properly. My guild is 7/12 in 25 and 11/12 in 10, we raid 25's for a couple of days a week and then split into 10's. We are not properly getting credit for our 25 man kills, wowprogress lists us as 4/12 in 25 man. The fact is Blizzard doesn't want a distinction between the two, people however insist on 25 man progress being tracked with no real valid way of it being able to be tracked properly.
My guild's progress has been updated with 1/12 10 man, but we haven't actually downed Omnotron on 10 man. It is marked as the same day we rekilled the boss on 25 man. I thought I should probably point out this error, since the data WP is getting is clearly wrong.

The crawler is not updating our 25 man Al'Akir kills and Nefarian kills thus showing incorrect rankings. We killed nefarian several hours before another guild and the update is recorded for their guild but not ours.
Our 25m Ascendant Council kill is not logged, and we downed him approximately 7 days ago now. Is there any way to fix this? We're 12/12 and we're before a few guilds ranked above us, but because it's not logging our AC kill, we cannot get the correct ranking. Any help appreciated.

same problem on EU-Ulduar. The 25 progress is not functioning properly. Magmaw and Omnotron Defense System 1st kill Cryptic and 2nd Sempa Fidelis. Both guilds are not ranked. Tephra got the Magmaw 1st kill. Thats incorrect !

I think the problem with achievement tracking is due to the fact we have killed valiona on 10 man and atrametes on 25 man so blizzard doesnt give us the achievement twice thus prevents wowprogress from updating properly.

another way would be passing on rights to the administrator of each guild to update themselves , however that might result in fake updates .

we have a small issue with our magmaw 25 kill and recently with our halfus 25 and valiona and theralion 25 kills. magmaw was killed rapeatedly in the last 4 weeks or so by our 25 man raid, but it wont update to count the kills in 25 man version, same with halfus and valiona. Our raid members are all part of our guild.

I have a question regarding two guilds teaming up together.
What if you're a 10 man guild and play with another 10man guild and kill something on 25man?
Will both guilds get the kill for 10man? or both for 25man eventhough we're 10man guilds?

We recently formed a guild where most of our members had already killed several bosses, however, halfus wyrmbreaker was not one of them but valiona and theralion was. The problem is now we have cleared halfus wyrmbreaker on 10 - man several time and the site still refuses to update, i sent an email in over a week ago and still haven't even had any confirmation that they are aware of the issue.
All other bosses are showing correctly so it is only halfus wyrmbreaker making us show as 8/12 when we should be 9/12 N modes.

But we don't appear any more on 10 man ranking (!)

Armory doesn't give any data for 25 different to that for 10 people raids anymore.
The only thing that can be done, is to count the members for a kill. But even though for examble a guild meets the criteria in the numbers, there is no way to determine if those people killed the boss while in 25 or 10.
My Guild is Bad Omen of Emerald Dream EU
We have killed Halfus in 25 and got credit for it, and after that Magmaw, Omnotron and Maloriak and never got credit for it. All those kills followed our first kill wich happened in 10 people raid.
At the same time we have various people killing Valiona/Theralion that for sure meet the number requirement for 25 ppl kill of this site, but never actually did it in 25. If site admins count numbers then, we will get credit for something that we never achieved.
(ofc newly formed guilds that get credit for kills that their members did on previous guilds is equally unfair but thats another story).
My opinion is that this list has no meaning anymore, though we strugle to keep 25ppl raids alive ourselves.
Next step will be 10 ppl raids of previous tier in dungeon finder...sad.
It has to be possible to separate progression between 10 and 25. I am in a 25 man raiding guild, we went in and did a lot of 10s while we were waiting for some slow levelers. I think we were maybe 6/12 in 10s before we got enough people leveled to do 25s. Once we started doing 25s, our 25 man kills were automatically updated just fine.
We got down Ascendant Council on 25 a few days ago, but it has not updated. Everything else has updated fine.

I'll attempt to explain why a kill in 25, after killing the same boss in 10 ppl mode first, is hard, but not imposible to trace using my experience (i gave up to the idea that will get credit for 25 ppl kills after killing bosses in 10).
My guild killed Halfus once or twice max in 10 ppl mode before doing it on 25.
The group that did the kill was solid (no more than 11 ppl were present at the 2 10 ppl kills).
After that we killed him in 25. It was full guild run. That means that even if all ppl from the 10 ppl kills were present, still more than 10 ppl killed halfus for the first time that night.
11 ppl that do a kill from a guild same date and time, is the desicive factor for progression site crawlers, to determine a 25 ppl kill. If it's up to 10, no site can tell if the setup was 10 or 25 ppl raid since no such distinction is provided from armory.
Thus, the more times you kill a boss at 10 ppl mode and the more members are doing it, prior to a 25 kill, the less likely it is to have 11 ppl with no kill, on your first 25 ppl kill, so crawler can safely determine that its 25 ppl run and not 10.
From the above it's clear that some first kills on 25 will get acknowledged, while others will never be able to get credit, due to the fact that there werent 10+ people in the same date and time so the progress site can determine that raid setup was 25 people raid.

Currently there are two guilds on the progress site, one with our old name and one with our new (which also has a really strange killing order, like Cho'gal as first, council as second etc)
Could you rename to and remove the one that has the wrong killing order? You could also remove Best in Slot since that guild doesn't exist anymore.

The site correctly shows that we did Halfus 10man heroic on 10th feb scoring 1183.33 / 1500.00
However in the realm rank list, it only shows our normal score of 243.33
We're listed as a 10man guild and have 3 active 10man groups.
I've run manual guild update many times but our score isn't showing the hard mode points.

Our guild Sanctify on the US-Zangarmarsh server has a couple of issues:
1. It doesn't have the Valiona and Theralion kill updated for 25 man even though our Ascendant Council and Cho'gall kills are properly updated on 25 man difficulty.
2. Even though we are 10/12 bosses killed on 10 man difficulty, our guild doesn't even show up under the tier11(10) list. Other guilds with fewer 10 man kills are showing up but ours is nowhere to be found on the list.
I have sent couple of emails regarding this to the email provided in the FAQs above, but nothing yet.
Please update our guild progress.

is this site updating the data so slowly, because you cant pull all the data you want or else armory would ban you? Or are there capacity problems elsewhere?
If it's throttling because of the armory bans, i would suggest to provide some kind of proxy code, that could be hosted by us user to share the amory requests among many different IPs. ElitistAmory did this with a little php-script and if it would help this site speed up updating, i and most certainly many others would be glad to provide you with such a tiny armory-proxy.

I.e. we killed all in 10man Normal and 25 also, but in t11 (25) we dont have half the kills, therefore the score is quite wrong (compared with other guilds)

So we merged guilds and began redoing content with them. However since 6 of us had the achievements for H Magmaw (10) and H Chim (10) it didn't credit the new guild with the kill.
I have e-mailed wow-progress 3 times providing World of Logs parses as proof of the kills and still nothing. The new GM and administrator of the new guild we joined has contacted wow-progress and still nothing?
Will renaming the guild insta-fix this? Can I please get some kind of response?

We were 3/13 heroic over in Draenor though I didn't think that would follow us as some of the members we had when we got the kill left us before transfer. When I added the guild all your tracker gave us was the kills for BWD (6/6) and Four Winds (2/2) on normal. It completely left out our (4/4) BOT kills. The dates also awarded for the kills are Way out. Some as new as June when we killed them back in December 2010.
We did however clear BOT again last night but still nothing. Very strange. I'm sure you are mega busy so I will just say that if you get the chance I would sure appreciate if this can be remedied.

For 10-mans we are correctly set at 12/12, but we are also 6/12 in 25-mans (most of them for months, any killed almost every week), however, WoWprogress never recognized those kills; we are still set to 1/12. This is a becoming a problem, since we also want to profile ourself as a 25-man raid guild.
If there is anything we can do to fix this, please let me know.

We have been updating our wow progress page multiple times a day and still have yet to see the new kills, even though it has still been updating when people join the guild. Our armory link is correct as far as i know.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do or if the problem can be solved we would greatly appreciate it =D

some 25man guilds are listed at the 10man ranking
some 10man guilds are lsited at the 25man ranking
and our 10man guild is only listed at the overall T12 ranking :-(

It won't seem to update our T-11 Progress any. We had Nefarion killed a week ago and are now 11/12 however it still says we are 8/12. We work hard on our progression and are trying to recruit more people however they look at the site and says well you haven't down X, Y, Z bosses. Please Help US!!

Though it's fair for guilds to be looking for all classes, in general those that keep recruitment vague tend to merely like to keep the door open to opportunities.
On the other hand, guilds putting in the effort to specify the classes they need deserve as much as the players looking for a guild to be "fast tracked" towards each other.
I reckon "all classes" should be a criteria that doesn't apply to any specific class.
This would make this new imba feature even more user friendly.

Therefore, Guild progress also appears incorrect. It is currently showing us as 0 / 7.....this is incorrect.
Assuming this is a larger issue than just my guild or my characters...I'm simply trying to bring it to your attention.

Boss kill will be added to your _guild_ progress once one of the following conditions are meet:
1. Guild items feed contains 2 or more items looted from the boss and you use "Guild Items Feed Scan" button.
2. At least 5 characters have boss kill achievement with the same timestamp and you use the new updater.
If you think there is a bug you should contact us by email and include one of these conditions as a proof (list of characters or list of loot with the links to the armory). If your email won't contain these proof, your email will be ignored.
All comments about "incorrect progress" will be ignored.
