A World of Pain was formed in november of 2006 by Shakuru and Malea as a small friends and social guild. We started off by raiding Karazhan and Zul'Aman on a casual basis, resulting in some of our members riding the 'special bear' with the bicyclehelmet. Shortly after that we made a co-raiding agreement with Chaos AD, whith whom we raided Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep and later Black Temple.
At the release of "Wrath of the Lich King" we started raiding on a more serious basis. With 3 raiddays a week for 25-man Naxxramas, The Eye of Eternity and Obsidian Sanctum and an extra day for 10-man naxxramas, The Eye of Eternity and Obsidian Sanctum. The guild grew steadily from an estimated initial 10 members to a fullfledged 25-man raidingguild, currently harboring well over 100 accounts.

This finally resulted in satisfactory progression through raidencounters: killing Sartharion with 3 drakes up on 10 and 25-man.
At the release of Ulduar we have cleared this on 25-man normal and did a few hardmode bosses, on 10 man on the other hand we have cleared this both on normal and on hardmode (including Algalon the Observer), and got us the Rusted Proto-drakes.
Trial of the Crusader was cleared fully on normal and we got up to Anubarak on hardmode. On 10man we cleared both normal and hardmode and we were one of the first to achieve the Tribute to insanity.
After that we have been progressing in Icecrown Citadel, where we have cleared all bosses except the Lich King on Heroic mode on both 10 and 25 man.

Currently we have 3 raidgroups that are venturing into the depths of the content in Cataclysm with the goal of downing all encounters before the next tier hits.

Through all raidingprogress, A World of Pain has tried to stay close to their roots as a guild where having fun with friends comes first above all. Our ever growing numbers are a result of a policy of welcoming social members into our ranks. A friend of a guildmember is likely to be a friend of ours. Despite the social outlook of the guild as a whole, we keep a hardcore attitude when it comes to our raiding endeavors.

All in all, A World of Pain is potentially the right choice for many players. We just expect you to keep an attitude which fits the status you applied for. That is: social members actually acting social and raiding members prepared to play their class exceptionally and always being prepared and fully focused.

Drop us a line if you truly want to enter A World of Pain!
