Guild Profile

Primary Language: English
Raids per week: 3
semi-hardcore
Recruiting (outdated):
all classes
Learn This or Wipe is a 25man raiding guild. Our primary goal is to defeat all existing raid content before the next tier of content is released while maintaining a fun atmosphere and limiting our 25man schedule to three days per week. Our members are mostly in the 20-30 age range, while the officer core consists primarily of older (25+) players, which leads to a degree of stability. We also have numerous members who have no trouble assuming leadership roles when necessary.

25man Raid Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays @ 5:30-9:00pm Server Time (7:30-11:00pm EST)

Currently Recruiting: TBA; Exceptional players fulfilling DPS and Healing roles.

History

In the summer of 2007 several of the core members of <The Brotherhood of Metal> started a new guild and thus <Learn This or Wipe> was born. We enjoyed several Horde first kills throughout The Burning Crusade (including Archimonde) and defeated all content up to and including Illidan Stormrage.

In addition to clearing all normal mode content in Wrath of The Lich King, we also enjoyed many hardmode/heroic kills including: Sarth+3D, Yogg+0, Algalon, 5/5 ToGC (Heroic Anub'arak), and 11/12 Heroic ICC. We also defeated Heroic Halion in 10man.

Although we've seen many new faces and changes over the years, Learn This or Wipe has remained a stable raiding force on Azjol-Nerub and strives for fast paced progression while maintaining a somewhat casual raiding schedule.

Our Expectations

First and foremost, we expect you to behave like an adult, treat others with respect, and remain drama-free. Second, we expect you to value other people's time as much as you value your own. This means being available to raid on time. This means not going AFK (barring RL emergencies) except at the scheduled break times. This means showing respect to the people that took time out of their lives to post raid strategies in our forums by actually reading those strategies and, ideally, participating in the strategy discussion.

We expect you to take this game more seriously than the average player. This means showing up to at least 80%+ of our raids. This means posting in the attendance forum when you cannot make a raid. This means always bringing enough raid consumables for the current night's raiding, whether you farm them yourself or purchase them well ahead of time through the guild bank. This means knowing what your optimal raid spec, enchants, and gemming choices are. This means using appropriate addons to aid in tracking buffs, debuffs, and encounter mechanics.

We expect you to learn from your mistakes and the mistakes other people make and improve your overall play and your play in a specific encounter. This means recognizing when you or someone else makes a mistake and recognizing what changes you need to make, whether it be positioning or prioritizing a non-damage utility ability over a damage ability or using a cooldown at the right time, to correct the mistake. This means looking through WorldofLogs reports to evaluate your own performance when its not immediately obvious to you why you may be having trouble. This game does a pretty poor job of letting you know when you're bad (with the possible exception of dying). Some people are good at recognizing their own mistakes as they play the game, others are not.

We intentionally keep our roster slightly bloated. This is a necessary evil to assure that we may continue raiding in the event that an unusual number of people call out for a particular evening. This means that you will be asked to sit on the waiting list from time to time.

We also expect you to communicate intelligently, but sparingly when necessary. This means you do not type or speak like a lolcat. This means you keep chatter on vent to a minimum.

Your Expectations

Assuming you've read this entire post and know well ahead of time what's expected of you, you can expect to be given a fair shot at becoming a member of Learn This or Wipe. You can expect a stable raiding environment that does not deviate from the schedule. You can expect one or more of our members to give you constructive feedback. You can expect to kill bosses, have fun, and get shiny new loot.
