The definition of a paragon is an example of excellence or a perfection of a kind. We all aspire to be as good as we can be individually and as a group. The Paragon was founded by a group of friends who enjoyed playing MMORPG’s together and wanted to bring similar players from around the country to share in their camaraderie. Originally founded as the Roughneck Mercs in early 2004, the guild quickly found it’s calling under the banner of the elected new name “The Paragon”. The name has spanned four different MMO’s and three different incarnations.
The Paragon exists because the bond between friends exists regardless of the distance between those friends. It’s not about epic loot or raids for hours on end every night of the week. It’s about hanging out with friends and enjoying a game when hanging out face to face is not an alternative. It’s about forming friendships and bonds with other people through the common interest of a computer game. The Paragon exists wherever loyalty to those bonds of friendship exist.
To be more bluntly specific as to what The Paragon is all about we should first tell you what we are NOT about. We are not about people who are just here to get their loot and get out. We are not here to sacrifice real life people and obligations for the sake of pixels on a computer screen. We are not interested in raiding every day of our lives for the sake of progression.
We are here to enjoy a common hobby and to play the game that we like to the best of our abilities. We are motivated, competent, mature individuals who want to be successful in all the things that we do, hobby or not. We may not be the hardest core guild on the server but we can accomplish the same progression goals and become one of the best in less time if we do our jobs well and work together. We do not work well with arrogance or immaturity, or people who do not listen or don't strive to do their best in order to make the group successful. We believe that you can be the best without telling everyone that you are, in fact, the best, or devote our lives to becoming so. If everyone you play with is equally committed to the same goal, you can accomplish the same things that others do in half the time, and have fun doing it.
