Who We Are...

Sodality of the Cairns is an Alliance guild on the server Lightbringer. Our main goal is Raid centric and towards building a great community of mature individuals who look to play WoW to enjoy and experience it with others of like mindset. We allow casuals and believe they are an asset to the guild. If you are looking to raid we have higher expectations. We do so with a Hardcore mindset. If you are standing in fire/getting cleaved, you will be warned in a mature fashion. Our motto is defined by a single word; Respect. Respect members/officers and you will be respected in turn. We like to have fun in a mature way. Therefore, we put the age limit based on maturity (usually 18+)

What you can expect...

Fairness. We strive to be fair and equal in terms of rewarding members. Loot is distributed on a loot council and based around Attendance and Performance. Easy way to put it, if you put the effort in, you will get rewarded. There's no mysterious or recondite conditions for getting loot; show up, do well, get gear.

Maturity. This means no trolling, lewd comments, being disrespectful, ninjaing, etc. Our guild name is our pride. We expect all members to act with honor. Tarnish it and you will quickly find yourself guildless.

No Drama. We have zero tolerance for Drama and people who would generate it. Plain and simple. This is a guild of adults, working professionals and post secondary students. We play WoW to have fun, not listen to people whine, troll, or make life miserable for others. There is no way to run yourself out of the guild faster.

Experienced Leadership. I have been playing WoW since 5 months after release. I have guild lead a server first raid guild in Vanilla, been a senior officer in a massive social guild in TBC, and run a moderate 10-man raid guild from the end of ToC through early Cataclysm. I know what works, what doesn't, and how to fix problems that do arise. I have tanked, healed and DPS'd in almost every class/spec in this game in addition to having 5+ years of raid leading experience.

What we expect from all members...

Good attitude. Towards raiding and others you are raiding with. You need to have the mental ability to handle multiple raid wipes and the possibility of not recieving loot you need. Decisions are made in the best interest of the guild, not individuals.

Dedication. Good attendance and being prepared is of vital importance to raiding 2 days a week. We are also looking for players who are active within the guild who are interested in what we have to offer. Whether that be retro raiding, obtaining guild experience or achievements, or helping your fellow member, it all goes towards creating a closer community and assisting in guild progress. It is not the guilds job to carry leechers.

Communication. Within Raids we require Mumble. We expect that members respect that we need to know if and when a person cannot be present for raids. We have forums for a reason to share information and better ourselves through sharing that information. This includes talking to officers if you have a problem.

Situational Awareness. Don't stand in the fire/void zones/etc. Being aware of your surroundings as well as those around you. This cannot be taught. You either can or cannot.

Class Knowledge. Speccing, enchanting and gemming appropriately should come as no shock to anyone wanting to raid. We can help sort out rough edges, but a good baseline is crucial. A general knowledge of other classes and their own roles is also important.

Preparation. Have flasks/food/etc. ready to go before raid time. Be enchanted/glyphed/gemed. BIO and eat before we start. Study the fights and do your homework for your class/role. Be waiting outside the instance. This should all be done before we step one foot inside the instance
