WoWProgress introduces Battle Pet Score Rankings!
The scoring is based on level (xp needed to level) and pet quality.
Pet quality modifiers:
poor: 1.0,
common: 1.1,
uncommon: 1.2,
rare: 1.3,
epic: 1.4,
XP needed to level:
level 2: 50,
level 3: 110,
level 4: 120,
level 5: 195,
level 6: 280,
level 7: 450,
level 8: 560,
level 9: 595,
level 10: 720,
level 11: 760,
level 12: 900,
level 13: 945,
level 14: 990,
level 15: 1150,
level 16: 1200,
level 17: 1250,
level 18: 1430,
level 19: 1485,
level 20: 1540,
level 21: 1595,
level 22: 1800,
level 23: 1860,
level 24: 1920,
level 25: 1980.

Update: duplicated pets are being removed from Pet Score.
Also, the Spawn of Onyxia is listed as "Derpy". Admittedly, it's not as cool as the promo one, but it's hardly derpy. LOL
For instance if 1 player had 400 pets at some level, and a second player had the exact same but a hundred more, the 2nd player should have a higher score for doing more work.
But if that 2nd player had 400 pets at the same level as the first but with more dupes and less uniques as the 1st player, then the first player should have a higher score due to more work hunting.
I'd envision a multiplier like 1.0 for unique, 0.5 for 1st dupe, 0.25 for 3rd dupe.
multiples of same pet shouldnt increase your score. take only unique pets. if theres duplicates, pick the best quality of the duplicates
this petscore is just nonsense.
What really should count:
- unique pet number
- unique pet level
- unique pet quality
- no score for dupes
Poor - 1.0
Common - 1.1
Uncommon - 1.4
Rare - 2
Epic - 3
Legendary - 5
That way the scores would better reflect the rarity of the pets owned.

For non-capturable pets though I'd probably keep the multipliers the same since they can simply be bought off the AH.
Awesome that it's just counting uniques, but if all the pets aren't showing up, the number will still be wonky.
It takes far more time to acquire rares and with the CRZ bullshit for some realms it is next to impossible to acquire a rare pet because it is camped 24h (no joke, 24 fucking hours) by players from at least 3 -5 different realms.
You can't mix rares with poor ones if you don't calculate the "work factor" in (which will be not very easy)
for example: a poor scourged whelpling level 25 is about 20x times worth a any normal rare level 25. A rare scourged whelping is a very huge time investment (at least at my realm but I think because of CRZ bullshit, this is true for other realms too). You see the problem.
Just eliminating the duplicates makes this system not better than before (and before it was not very good for a comparison). Just try to acquire a rare version of some weather limited, time limited or CRZ bullshit limited pet (=greater spawn timer).
The more score you have, the more harder it become to get more score, and what is wrong with that?
But okay, I see your point, with your last change put those ahead just done all safaris with any pet quality they could get, those who choose only capture rare will have a very good base later on (when the number of level 25 pets starts to kick in because a larger part has done safaris and total number of pets does not cut it anymore - especially if you picked up all quality you could get).
Plus, I also think the score puts a bit too much emphasis on leveling pets compared to finding a higher quality version of the pet, but maybe that's just me.
Anyway, in spite of these criticisms, I'm excited about the potential behind ranking pet collections! Undoubtedly it'll become more accurate as time goes on, so I'll definitely keep checking back in the future!

The matching system alone is so bad, that you often get not a fair battle before each pet is level 25 ( have tried it a few times but after getting fights against a opponents with level+2 pets I stopped using it and never came back).
But nr. 15 on the list only has 3 lvl 25's and for the rest has a few amount of lvl 15-22 and mostly common/uncommon. Same goes for many in the 5-15 range.
It doesnt bother me that much, I'm just a bit confused as how this works. The first one on my realm clearly deserves to be nr. 1 as he has a huge amount of lvl 25's, but I'm not doing bad myself with 16x 25.
