About us

"A Necessary Evil" is a 20 man, Semi hardcore raiding guild on the Tarren Mill server. We formed on day one of TBC, but every member had previously played during Vanilla. While our main focus is raiding, we also enjoy running M+ and the occasional spot of PvP. On off-raid nights we run regular alt/friend raids. We have a large player base with members from 18 - 50 years old and from many different cultures, thus we require players to be able to understand English. We also have a large social side of the guild, mixing former raiders with friends of friends.

Progression history

Vanilla : While the Hellfire server only opened on the release of TBC expansion, many of our members made progression on other servers, from MC up to Naxxramas.

TBC : During TBC the guild was a huge hit, with many server first and horde first kills, working our way up to and including Sunwell Plateau, with progress being made on M'uru when the big nerf hit the game.

WOTLK : In Wrath we continued to keep a nice pace and managed to clear almost everything in Heroic mode and completed the meta achievements - except for 25-man Lich King Heroic and 25 man Halion heroic.

Cata : Throughout Cataclysm, we made steady progress throughout the raids, ending with 8/13HC in tier 11 (25), 6/7HC in Firelands (25) and 8/8HC in Dragon soul (Server first 25). We feel we ended this expansion on a high after having recruitment issues, but as a guild we became stronger, pulled through and the guild now feels closer than ever.

MoP : In the first tier of Mists of Pandaria we killed all heroic bosses except Empress and Sha of Fear. We returned to kill them after 5.2 released We nearly killed Lei Shen before Siege of Orgrimmar launched, and proceeded to kill Blackfuse before Blizzard rebalanced the last three bosses. We killed Garrosh (realm first) before the big nerf, and proceeded to farm Siege of Orgrimmar until all raiders had their mounts.

WoD: We started strong after the raiding system was changed to 20-man, and have cleared Highmaul, and progressed through Blackrock Foundry up to mythic Blackhand before Hellfire Citadel came out. In 6.2 we cleared up to Gorefiend before going on a several month break.

Legion: With some ups and downs we managed to get Xavius, Helya, Gul'dan, Kil'jaeden and Argus all cutting edge. 2 Months before the release of BFA we went on a break so everyone would have a fresh new start at the beginning of the new expansion.

BFA: The guild continued to improve throughout BFA, clearing everything except Uu'nat, and achieving a higher world rank each tier, culminating in a secure spot on the front page of Tarren Mill. After everyone got their N'zoth mount, the guild went on a break until the release of Shadowlands.

Our goals

In world of warcraft, our goals are to explore and experience all the raiding content that the game can provide while still feeling that we can live a life outside the game. To be able to combine these two things we expect our raiders to put their best efforts into official raids and always aim to keep improving. During raids we are focused, well organized and everyone works hard to improve themselves and the raid as a whole. We play this game to relax and have fun and we aim to keep a friendly and mature atmosphere in the guild.

Is ANE for you?

As a top raiding guild on the server we prefer players with experience of raiding and of course with a character suitably geared for the content we are progressing through. We expect every raider to pull their own weight and prepare themselves properly and keep improving as much as they can. We encourage our raiders to ask for help if they don’t understand something or if they get stuck with a problem and we always appreciate guild mates that lend a hand to help.
