“Recourse” Guild

Recourse (noun) - Access or resort to a person or thing for help or protection.

Currently, we are not raiding as a guild because too many people are on breaks and/or doing real-life things. Instead, a small but dedicated group of us are living the "overqualified-casual" life. Each week we run M+ dungeons on mains and alts, PuG into other guilds' raid groups (often making their superstars look bad), and flame at the "actual" casuals like the LFR heroes that we are.

This is Our Story

The Glorious Beginning:
We embody what our guild name suggests and it truly defines everything we've been through to reach this point. Recourse was established to act as a sanctuary of sorts for a specific group of people. Our group has been raiding and playing together since mid-late MoP and we needed to break away from the many downsides associated with larger and pre-established guilds. Today, we are a small guild that's comprised mostly of what was once our original core group of officers and raiders throughout the last several years.

Late in Mists of Pandaria, we found each other, banded together in a no-name guild, and firmly established ourselves as the best Alliance raiding guild on that server. Our tightly-knit 10 man team managed to do that in just one month. With the title of server's #1 guild, we soon found ourselves running multiple raid teams, shuttling guild socials and new recruits through flex (normal) alt raids, selling Garrosh kills, and constantly recruiting.


A Festering Wound:
Fast forwarding to Warlords of Draenor, we needed at least 10 more qualified people for high level raiding. Trying to satisfy that new requirement slowly and painfully destroyed us. After killing Heroic Blackhand in Blackrock Foundry, we were once again ranked as the #1 Alliance guild on the server. However, this time we had nowhere else to go, nothing more to progress towards, because we couldn't start Mythics - thanks to a lack of able bodies on our low-pop server. For nearly all of our guild officials, being dedicated and highly skilled players, our inability as a guild to achieve Mythic raiding status (due purely to the shortcomings of others) left many of us bitter - and the wound only continued to fester.

Throughout all of WoD, we recruited and trialed countless new players hoping that we would eventually have a full roster of players that were fully capable and prepared to tackle the hardest PvE content that WoW has to offer. Unfortunately, even after 11 months of recruiting and trialing, we failed to fill the roster with the right people (assuming they all showed up). Disgusted with the situation, we packed up our pride, buttoned up the Guild Bank, and server transferred a handful of us to Whisperwind to again strive for same goal. Unfortunately, that festering wound was still alive. As one thing led to another, eventually tempers flared and we discovered that we all needed a break. So, the guild ultimately disbanded and died.


Reborn Into Recourse:
Today, many of us are playing together once again, but this time, we're wearing a new guild tabard and are playing with a new focus. Our new focus is simply to clear Heroic raid content in Legion - but in a much more time efficient manner than we had during WoD. This is our goal. As of now, we want to effectively and efficiently clear Heroic raid content and then, rather than pull our hair out with Mythics, we're simply going to do it again on alts (if we choose to do so).


Raiding Goals for Recourse:
With a renewed mindset and a clear goal to strive for, we have essentially created a "casual" raiding environment for a team of individuals who's average skill levels would far exceed the standard definition of "casual players". Today, our main group consists of 8 of our original 10 raiders from our "prime" raid team in MoP. We're very capable players who have seen the very end of "end-game" content - we know what it takes. But, that level of time and commitment just is not for us anymore (at least at this point).

Are You Right for Recourse and is Recourse Right for You?
We're looking to recruit specific players that are similar to ourselves. This means we're recruiting very specific people. These people are the kind that we would be able to both joke around & talk seriously with who also are able to pull their own weight (or more) with raid mechanics, knowledge/will to push their class/spec to its limit, and a "for the better of the team" attitude. Part of the requirement for us "effectively and efficiently" pushing through content is an ability to learn quickly, so please don't waste our time or your own if you're a slow learner - though many of us are willing to occasionally provide help to players who genuinely want to get better.
