I have been playing my priest since September 2005 and healing raids (starting with Molten Core) since January 2006. I've been the guild master of Obsidian Spur since TBC.

Raiding - Reliability, communication, and competence are most important. Our guild raids two nights per week on Thursday and Sunday from 8:00-11:30 eastern, for a total of seven hours each week. We also use Wednesday night as an optional third night where we farm easier content, such as normals and later heroics. Although we are casual in that we do progression on two nights, we aim to maximize that time and consider our rankings on Thrall to be competitive since most mythic raiding guilds push three nights per week for a total 9-12 hours. We also use the first week of a new raid to do normal mode as a guild group rather than immediately push into heroic. For example, we cleared 9/9N Tomb on Thursday night, and went 5/9H on Sunday night for our first week of Tomb raiding. Although this hurts our ranking, we do it to ease into the new raid and see everything as a team. When comparing attempts and not a time-stamp, which gives favorable bias to guilds that raid more days and earlier, we rank better than shown. When we killed heroic Archimonde we ranked 30th. When we killed mythic Xavius we ranked #40 out of 546 registered guilds. During current EN and TOV progression prior to Nighthold release in Legion, we consistently ranked in the mid to high 30s. At the end of Nighthold prior to Tomb's release, we ranked #20 on Thrall and #4 on the server out of guilds that do progression 1-2 nights per week.

Mythic+ Dungeons - We have many people in our guild that run mythic+ dungeons in Legion, including high ones. If you have interest in doing JUST this content, please consider us. Our most active mythic+ night is Monday, but we also run them spontaneously on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday night. We completed full 8/8 Warlords gold medals, and full 9/9 Mists gold medals. At one point we had realm best time for Mogu'shan Palace, which granted some of our players the exclusive "Mistwalker" title.

Guild History - Obsidian Spur is an original WoW launch guild. We moved to Thrall for Mists of Pandaria after calling Sargeras our home since November of 2004. Alliance greatly outnumber Horde on Sargeras, and this was amplified by the heavy exodus of Horde players to other servers over several years. This situation created a horrible playing environment for Horde players, especially since Sargeras is PvP. When all was said and done, we decided to leave our home server. We used to be a much more hardcore raiding guild back in Vanilla, and we eventually "burnt" out early on in Naxx 40 due to several factors. Things changed in TBC when a large player exodus occurred. Many players quit the game entirely, and this caused another chunk of players to leave and join another raiding guild. This caused our guild to enter a hibernation state since TBC endgame only consisted of 25-man raiding. Wrath resurrected our guild and many players returned to the game. We successfully collaborated with a few other Horde guilds on Sargeras - The Wrecking Crew and Virakar - in order to clear all Wrath content. Cataclysm was another successful expansion for us, and we were able to clear all content. We also began to seriously raid heroic modes during Cataclysm, ultimately completing heroic Madness of Deathwing. The legendary staff from Firelands was completed, as well as multiple legendary dagger sets. Many players returned during Mists and had a lot of fun and success in raids. We ran two 10-man raids during Mists, each of which cleared out MV, HoF, ToeS, and ToT. All raids completed "ahead of the curve." One 10-man stopped during SoO, while the other continued, cleared it, and progressed to 10/14 heroic (now called mythic) before taking a hiatus. Once again, many players returned for Warlords, some of whom hadn't played for several years. We ran with one larger raid group consisting of 22-26 people, but it eventually decreased to 10-15 people. Although we cleared all heroic content and obtained our "ahead of the curve" achievements, we were unable to successfully get the new mythic 20-man format off the ground. After raiding the hardest end-game content for several years with a 10-man group, more than doubling that team to 20+ people was too large of a shift for our guild (and many others).

Many of our members are in their 20s and 30s and have been playing together for many years. We are a close community but always welcome new players into the fold, regardless of level and experience. We are a social, laid-back community of people that like to play games. People are always in Mumble. We log raids and have our own website for forums discussion as well. We have a mixture of skilled, passionate players along with completely casual ones. We have students, professionals, and veterans in the guild. We are a diverse group.
