Nox Aeterna was originally the name of a guild on Winterhoof that
transferred to Area52 in October 2011. It didn't take them long to
realize that their guild name sucked, so most of them ended up
leaving the guild and the game itself (yea, the name was THAT bad).
Fast forward to 2013, on September 12th,the day SoO released, three
unlikely friends, Lohre, Tasiya, and Kaethur, decided that they
would form their own raid team because, fuck it. It was a long shot
that their endeavors to form a competent, competitive, and fun raid
team would actually succeed, but nevertheless, they gave it a shot.
Unfortunately, back in those days of WoW, guild levels were still a
"thing", and their only alternative to starting from scratch with a
new guild was to join Nox Aeterna (lvl 13), which Lohre had been
using as a storage bank. Would the guild name condemn their new
raid team to the same fate?
Finding 7 geared and competent players to go into SoO that fateful night usually would have been a damn near impossible task, but the stars aligned and they went into SoO with a full raid team.. . .(okay, okay. . .*maybe* they had stolen some players from their previous raid team and *maybe* only actually had to find like 3 pugs). Most notably from the pugs, they picked up Sassaphrass (the original) who quit playing in WoD due to real life issues, but will always be an honorary member of the team, and Jixxling. Everyone hated Jixx at first, some still do, but to most on the team he has solidified his role as loveable asshole.
Throughout SoO, the solid 10m had its ups and downs, but always managed to come out ahead, but more importantly, it added to its roster some awesome people such as Hotzforsale (joined Dec 2013), Wolftuba and Elderspirits (both joined Jan 2014).
At first, it seemed that the curse of the guild name had not affected the members of the raid team, who had all become good friends over the course of the last 10 months. The curse of the disc priest, however, had been a constant pain in the ass. So,3 bosses shy of clearing Mythic SoO, after many months of taking in undergeared disc priests, gearing them up, and then having them leave, the guild decided to call it quits for the time being in June 2014. Oh, and Wildstar had just come out as well, totally unrelated to the decision. . . .
For several months the fate of the guild seemed unclear. A few members left on their mains to continue with SoO, while others didn't see daylight for weeks because they were too consumed with building spaceship homes on their plots in Wildstar (don't judge me). But in August, every.single.member. decided that they loved raiding together so much that they would trudge on, reform as a 25m, and finish out SoO, and so they did.
It was around this time of the Great Reformation that the officers decided that the guild name fucking sucked, like the other 99% of pretentious Latin guild names do, so they changed it to <Untold>. The guild name still sucks, but at least it's not pretentious, amirite?
Since the Great Reformation, Untold has added new faces to the roster, faces that have come and gone, but the best ones have stuck around. The curse of the disc priest seems to have faded into a mere memory, and the guild continues to pass the trials and tribulations of raiding in WoD with mostly grace and humor, and spamming macros. Lots of spamming of the macros. For now, all is well.
The End.
